Making your Garden a Haven for Pollinators and Birds

August 8, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm PDT

Terry Oxford, Pollinator Advocate, Environmental Activist, Reformed Beekeeper, winner of three Good Food Awards for her bees’ ‘Tree Blossom Honey’, speaks to gardeners who care deeply about birds, bees, and butterflies.  Terry’s work reveals that commonly utilized systemic pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, are pre-applied on ornamental plants (roses) and trees at local and national nurseries/growers before retail sale. Unless labled Organic, nearly 100% of everything you plant in your garden is pre-treated with a cocktail of chemical poisons intended to kill insect life. Did you know that for years, most Milkweed is treated with caterpillar killer?  Agricultural poison is the number one culprit in pollinator and wildlife demise.

Terry seeks to educate the general public that there is no safe dose of these ubiquitous toxins and how to avoid them by asking the right questions where you purchase plants.  Terry will discuss why her San Francisco honey is so delicious (Spoiler alert! no sugar-feed is added to the hive). She will detail how we can make our gardens a nutritious and SAFE haven for all pollinators and birds.  You will also enjoy honey samples which taste of San Francisco’s delicious Tree Flowerscape!
