With a climate moderated by water on three sides from the Pacific Ocean and The San Francisco Bay, an average summer temperature of 85 degrees and a winter temperature rarely below freezing, a range of elevation from sea level to 2571 feet, and a natural abundance of wildlife and oak and redwood trees, Marin County is an ideal place in which to live and grow roses.
Founded with only a few members in 1974 by Joseph and Marion Klima, the Marin Rose Society continues to promote the culture, interest and appreciation of roses of all kinds; and to educate gardeners of Marin County on rose nomenclature, rose types (classifications) and their uses, propagation, maintenance, and exhibiting techniques.
