Russet-colored roses are definitely unique and pretty rare. ‘Cinco de Mayo’ sports large double blooms of an indescribable blending of smoked lavender and rusty red orange. As a seedling of the ever popular, butter yellow floribunda ‘Julia Child,’ it puts a whole new spin on ‘flower power’. The super-clean glossy-green foliage mirrors the flowers, and the dusky coloration of the blooms allows them to blend nicely with most other flowers in the landscape.
With a light sweet fragrance, cooler weather produces an even smokier color; blooms resist fading and disease resistance is strong on this bushy plant. Introduced in 2007 by Weeks Roses it has an American Rose Society rating of 7.8.
