SUMMARY:Rose Pruning
DESCRIPTION:This is the perfect time to get out in the garden and hard prune your roses. Marin Master Gardener and Rosarian Don Chapman will give a brief talk about necessary tools\, what and why to prune and much more (maybe even how to propagate). Most importantly\, he will demonstrate how\, where\, how far\, and why to prune. Participants will break into small groups and prune a rose under supervision and instruction. \nDress warmly and bring hand pruners and gloves (rose pruning gloves if you have them). \nThis event is held outside and will go on during a drizzle and is only cancelled if it is pouring rain. \nCoffee and snacks will be provided. \nDon Chapman\, Marin Master Gardener and long time Rosarian\, is an expert rose pruner and has taught about pruning for many years. DESCRIPTION:Do you have questions about pruning roses\, and basic rose care? Why do we prune roses? When should we prune roses? How should we water and feed our roses? These questions\, and many others\, will be answered in this program. There is an opportunity for audience participation – please bring your hand pruning shears and gloves. \nPaula Jaffe grows over 100 roses in Tiburon. She is a Marin Master Gardener\, an American Rose Society Consulting Rosarian\, and an officer of the Marin Rose Society. Her awards include a Bronze Honor Medal from the Marin Rose Society\, and ribbons from the Marin County Fair.

SUMMARY:MRS Annual Rose Pruning Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:The MRS Annual Rose Pruning Demonstration!  This is a chance to see winter pruning\, cleanup and shaping techniques led by our own members!  Paula Jaffe\, Richard Holtz\, Vivien Bronshvag and Sandy Simon will provide live demonstrations on a variety of roses.  We welcome members and guests to bring their own potted roses as “demonstrators” after which they can either go home with their owners\, ready for a strong spring showing…OR we can add them to our raffle table to help them find new homes.  This is always one of our most popular annual events and this year should be better than ever (can we even calculate the years of pruning experience in that Dream Team)?  If anyone needs assistance to arrange transportation for your rose demonstrators\, please contact Andrew Smith on 415-613-4395 or andrewsmith415@gmail.com.  See you all there!”
