SUMMARY:ARS Coming Up Roses – The High Country Roses Story
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Matt Douglas takes us inside High Country Roses!   \nRoses have been a way life for the Douglas-Campbell family since 1970 when Dr William Campbell first started High Country Roses. Second is a desire to provide cold hardy own-root roses for customers in difficult climates. Today\, the nursery produces about 40\,000 own-root roses each year from our location in suburban Denver.\nCR CREDIT APPROVED\nThe American Rose Society offers numerous educational opportunities including monthly webinars on a variety of topics. SUMMARY:ARS - Rose Selection in Different Soil and Climate Conditions
DESCRIPTION:Speaker Matthias Meilland\, Sixth Generation Rose Breeder\, House of Meilland \nJoin us for a webinar presentation by Matthias Meilland\, Sixth Generation Rose Breeder\, House of Meilland!  Since 1935\, the House of Meilland has tested its varieties on both sides of the Atlantic. When Robert Pyle came to see the young Francis Meilland in France\, in 1933\, he told him to learn English and go see his varieties abroad. Francis did and traveled to the US in 1935. Since this era\, the Meilland breeding team has traveled the world to see how their new seedlings were performing in different climate and soil conditions. These 90 years of data from Pennsylvania\, California\, Spain\, Germany and France\, produced varieties such as ‘Peace’\, ‘Bonica’\, ‘Eden Rose’ and ‘Papa Meilland’ and also incredible performers such as the ‘Drift ‘roses and many of the mid-western performing Hybrid Teas that embellish your gardens.\nWe will dive into the selection program\, see the winners and losers and we might even take a peek into the future of roses!\nCR CREDIT APPROVED\nThe American Rose Society offers numerous educational opportunities including monthly webinars on a variety of topics. SUMMARY:Rethinking Late Summer & Fall Rose Health Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr. Mark Windham\, Professor Emeritus of Plant Pathology\, The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture\n\nJoin us as Dr. Mark Windham shows us the way to encourage a healthy spring garden starts with actions in late summer and fall.  As the days get shorter\, rose foliage becomes less effective in converting energy to sugars. Leaves become nutrient sinks (use more nutrients than they produce via photosynthesis). Rose roots have become saturated with starch leading to a change in the rose’s physiology which triggers the slow transition toward dormancy. At this time\, plants become more susceptible to many diseases that can overwinter on canes or in debris on the soil surface.\nIn this seminar\, we will look at ways to maintain healthy roses as they begin the dormancy transition. Proper planning and direct actions in the fall will pay dividends for healthy roses the following spring. The seminar will look at cultural ways to successfully maintain rose health in both spray and no-spray gardens.\n\nCR CREDIT APPROVED\nhttps://register.gotowebinar.com/#register/7493080932168446812

SUMMARY:Designing a Garden for Rose Collectors. The Normal Rules Don’t Apply!
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Paul Zimmerman\, Owner\, Paul Zimmerman Roses Consulting and Design\nJoin us for an engaging webinar as Paul Zimmerman presents the following about his program. “As passionate rose growers we are always adding new roses to our gardens. This makes it hard to be able to design a garden using traditional means like color grouping\, growth habit etc. This webinar gives you some tips from my own gardens on how to create a good looking garden while still allowing roses to come and go”\nAbout Paul: “I started Paul Zimmerman Roses Consulting and Design around one simple message. Roses are nothing more than flowering shrubs and that’s how you should use\, and treat them. Through consulting\, design\, writing\, lectures and workshops my goal is to make roses less intimidating.”\nCR CREDIT APPROVED\nRegister Here: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/4975009088334771544
