Rose of the Month For September, 2008 by Barbara Picarelli
This little beauty is one of the newer ones in the Marin Rose Garden at MAGC. While working in the garden last month, I just happened to have my camera handy. I’ve also learned to take a picture of the name tag, as my memory fails to remember names after I’ve left the garden.
Another Tom Carruth offering bred in 2006, this gem is a bright lemon yellow almost neon colored rose, but one of the web sites lists it as a medium yellow floribunda. It blooms in clusters, and the flowers do not fade as much as other yellow roses tend to. It is a compact low growing bush, with glossy apple green leaves, and a perfect specimen for using in borders or for a cut flower. Interestingly, this rose is also available in a standard form. The blooms are average size 2.5 to 3 inches and 25-40 petals. Parentage is ‘Gold Marie’ X ‘Baby Love’ (a miniature by Scrivens). It was introduced in 2007 by Weeks Roses and also carries the registration name WEKgojolo. Probably its one drawback is little fragrance.
